Major Ahmed Hussein Al Katheeri from the Community Security Sector at Abu Dhabi Police has been certified to participate in running races in areas where temperatures reach -40C below zero.

Anatoly A. Kergasov, president of the Sakha Republic Athletics Federation in Siberia, honored the pioneer Ahmed Hussein Al-Katheeri for his participation in a race to run at -40C below zero and is the first foreign player to be honoured by the Federation.

Major Ahmed Hussein Al Katheeri praised Abu Dhabi Police's interest in encouraging police staff to adopt a spirit of challenge, adventure and difficulty and their keenness to develop leadership and courage qualities, pointing out that he will participate in five marathons of 250 km per race and in five continents next year, and will be the last race in the South Pole.

He added that the reason for his mathematical choice of Siberia was because of the low temperatures because they were in the same climatic conditions as the South Pole, because of its relative proximity to The City of Moscow and thus the ease of movement between neighbouring cities, and the ability to gradually improve temperatures.

He stated that one of the most difficult difficulties he faced in Siberia was the freezing of any face mask and therefore difficulty breathing during running, difficulty communicating and communicating with people in the region and using a Google translation program to facilitate communication, and equipping suitable clothes and equipment for each region during the journey.

He thanked the UAE Embassy in Russia, Ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, Ambassador of the State in Russia, and Mr. Ahmed Al Ketbi, First Secretary of the Embassy, for support and follow-up during his time in Siberia.
